Abstract

The crisis in the Soviet cities of Ukraine is caused not least by the disproportions of the previous development of the planning structure. The latter was strictly focused on the formation of industrial cities. These imbalances intensified during the collapse of the USSR, which occurred along with the collapse of industrial civilization. At present, the monumental heritage of urbanization, as befits it, has become one of the main tools for preserving the now outdated urban lifestyle, which is characterized by rejecting the sociocultural basis of settlements. This entailed the neglect of the originality of the foundations of the development of the architectural environment and, accordingly, the strengthening of crisis phenomena in the social sphere.
