Abstract

Features of historical formation of nominations of high-rise buildings and structures in architecture are considered. Their synonymous concepts are defined and the characteristics of objects called these words are clarified. The concepts of "skyscraper" and "high-rise building" are analyzed. A new definition of the term "high-rise building" has been proposed.
