ІНТЕГРАЦІЯ МУРАЛ-АРТУ В МІСЬКЕ СЕРЕДОВИЩЕ

Abstract

The study covers the history of origin of the concept of “mural”, describes the species and genre classification of murals, as well as their functions. The role of the art in the urban space is highlighted, the impact of the street painting on the general panorama of the city and the development of tourism is determined, the common patterns of successful development of the street art are revealed. The main tendencies of development of the mural art in Ukraine are analyzed, the peculiarities of its development are highlighted and the common patterns of development of the street art in Ukrainian cities are outlined.
The beauty of the street painting lies in its ability to convey social messages and images of the local life. It challenges viewers to evaluate the image and interpret it in their own way. The street art underwent the same evolution process as frescoes. Owing to famous street artists, it has become an integral part of the contemporary urban art. Today murals are “faces” of cities, an attempt of artists from all over the world to address the viewers, to draw their attention to a certain issue or problem, values or needs of the society, an attempt to call modern urban residents for a dialogue. That is why in many modern cities around the world we can see single and grouped decorative, three dimensional and flat, rich in color contoured accents that appeal to the current residents, speaking of troublesome issues. Currently, this trend is the most popular in Ukraine and in the world. Modern murals cause controversy in scientific circles and manifest the emotional mood of the society. This is a topic of present interest due to the controversy in the society caused by the perception of the mural, especially in the context of formation of the visual environment of the city. Within the recent years, hundreds of murals have appeared in Ukraine which are comparable to the best world models. The urban space is being filled with the high-quality pieces of the street art. Contemporary Ukrainian artists
support the national historical and symbolic line. The task of mural painters is to incorporate their works into the urban environment so that they correspond to the identity of the inhabitants, awaken creativity and bring aesthetic pleasure.
