Abstract

In the article analyzed the semantics of order language in the architecture of postmodernism of the second half of XX - beginning of XXI centuries and the main stages of its development are revealed. The order has been used for many centuries,
but not continuously, with large or small breaks. Due to the return and development of ancient styles, conducting experiments to mix them not only in individual creations, but also in the urban environment, in the nineteenth century the dominant role of the order fades. This process has undermined the unwavering belief in the versatility of the ordering system and has generated multiple experiments of combining the order with elements of other styles. The greatest blow to the prestige of the ordering system as the most widespread language was given in the early twentieth century by representatives of the "modern movement", who put forward the idea of finding absolute universal forms and purification of architecture from all kinds of
historical heritage. However, modernism failed to completely cross out the order of architectural practice, and as early 1930s we observe the emergence parallel with the modernism processes of formation the Art Deco currents, which again take over the warrant system. The sharp criticism of modernism in the 1950s-1970s raised the question of whether it is legitimate to use the classical warrant system in modern times and how it can be applied and how has the semantics of warrant changed? This has proved to be one of the leading issues of postmodernism, which is still under discussion.
