Abstract

The urgency of the work is the need to consider penitentiary structures as objects of cultural heritage and to find solutions to their effective use in the structure of historical cities. At present, objects of historical and cultural heritage have lost their specific function and represent a reserve for the development of urban space by adapting to a new function. The aim of the work is to investigate penitentiary structures and their adaptation options as the most appropriate way to preserve and effectively use the examples of foreign experience.
