Abstract

The urban environment has become much brighter. But unfortunately, lighting is very often not designed with care and does not support the visual well-being and rhythms of people. The purpose of this article is to identify the necessary decorative, artistic and practical functions of urban lighting, as well as tools and techniques for developing and implementing future projects that support this growing trend. Architectural lighting performs a decorative and artistic function in the design of open areas and plays an important role in the perception of the surrounding urban environment. Modern outdoor lighting should meet five main functions: visibility, safety, and aesthetics, cost-effective, social lighting function.
