Abstract

Estimation of initial stiffness of beam to column connection according to the requirements of EC3 design code has been carried out. Absence of such rules in actual DBN В.2.6-198:2014 led to necessity of foreign experience consideration. According to design philosophy adopted in EC 3 beam to column connection may be represented as a set of individual components. For current beam to column connection all acting components were established and their individual rotational stiffness calculated. On the basis of the rotational stiffness of each component the initial rotational stiffness of the whole connection calculated. According to obtained results such connection was classified as semi-rigid. Such classification is very important in the design process of steel constructions.
