The article discusses the history of creation, types of terraces and materials for their construction. The properties that should characterize the flooring of terraces are analyzed. Wooden terraces in historical, architectural and construction aspects are considered. Terraced boards are characterized, their classification according to various characteristics. A comparative analysis of raw materials, production and processing technologies, advantages and disadvantages, the life of terrace boards made of various wood materials - from natural wood, from thermal wood, from a wood-polymer
composite, has been performed. The comparison of terrace boards made of various wood materials according to the criteria of environmental friendliness, appearance, frost resistance, resistance to temperature changes, biological stability, fire safety, installation features, the need for care during operation and durability is compared. Estimated is the
approximate distribution of a part of terrace boards made of various wood materials according to the proposals on the Ukrainian construction market. A comparative analysis of the cost of terrace boards made of various wood materials. It is shown that the cost of terrace boards varies in a wide range depending on the material from which they are made, the type of product, the type of wood and its quality, manufacturing technology, manufacturing country, manufacturing company and other factors. Natural wood decking is cheaper than others, with the exception of exotic wood decking. The price of terrace planks made of wood-polymer composite, especially imported, is high. Based on the results of the study, the selection criteria for terrace boards for flooring of terraces are justified.
