Abstract

Investigation of stability of the back of the dam of the upstream reservoir of Dniester HPSPP is carried out by method of reduction of resistance forces and by method of boundary equilibrium over flat shear surfaces. Several cross-sections of the dam for several variants of additional design solutions to increase stability of the back have been considered. The values of stability coefficients determined by method of reduction are more reliable because all components of stress tensor and their corresponding elastic and plastic deformations of dam soils and foundation are considered. Such approach is regulated by modern design standards.
