The calculation of the strength of cross laminated timber panels or CLT by bending requires the consideration of transverse shear deformation due to the significant deformation of the transverse layers of boards, which is caused by a significant difference between the magnitude of the modulus of elasticity to the shear modulus and thus a precondition is used Timoshenko beam theory. The offset value for each panel type, depending on the configuration of the cross-sectional components, is taken into account by inputting the offset coefficients, which depends on the thicknesses of the CLT panels boards and their distance from the center of gravity of the panel cross-section. Timoshenko's method is used in engineering practice no less than the method of calculation by gamma method and the method of shear analogy, which are contained in Eurocode-5 and DIN1052 respectively.
