Abstract

The object of the research is the work of a wooden beam of rectangular cross-section, resting on wooden supports. Traditionally, check crumple strength of wood across the fiber on the supports is based on the condition of a uniform transverse distribution of normal stress along the length of the contact beam with supports. Calculations of the stress-strain state of a beam with linings showed that the distribution of transverse normal stresses along the length of the contact of the beam with the supports is uneven with the presence of areas of concentration of these stresses and a significant overstress of wood. In this work, an improved calculation of the "beam-elastic linings" system has been carried out, which takes into account the orthotropic properties of the timber of the beam and allows crumple of the timber of the substrates across the fibers, whereby there is a redistribution and equalization of the normal transverse stresses along the length of mutual contact of the beam with support linings and that the condition of collapse strength of wood across the fibers. In this case, the maximum normal longitudinal stresses in the beam and the deflection of the beam increase slightly.
