Abstract

To solve the actual problems of environmental protection and protection of water bodies in modern conditions requires the rational use of natural resources and reducing the cost of cleaning natural waters to drinking quality. Particular attention is paid to the processes of purification of natural waters, the improvement of technology and the development of new effective methods of purification, the introduction of resource-saving technologies. Practical results can be achieved by improving the efficiency of individual cleaning facilities complexes of public water supply systems, the element of which are also vertical settling tanks. The disadvantages of sedimentation tanks include large dimensions, which is associated with small speeds of water movement inside the structure, and also a relatively small effect of lighting water. The main task of the work was to study the influence of the speed of movement of water illuminated inside the vertical sump on the efficiency of its purification, as well as the possibility of increasing this speed to reduce the hydraulic load on the structure without losing the efficiency of lighting.
